Thank you for your interest in the 2026 Green Power Leadership Awards (GPLAs). Applications must be received by 11:59PM PT Tuesday, May 19, 2026 and be accurate, complete, and must address all listed criteria.

The award categories are:

Impactful Procurement: Recognizing that certain renewable energy procurements can have greater impact in incentivizing new supply and market access, this award highlights organizations that choose renewable energy options (fuel and electricity) that most effectively drive new supply and expand markets. These can include procurements of all sizes that result in new projects, involve long-term contracts or early commitments, or support new technologies, grid improvements, or other strategies for maximizing the procurement's effect on new clean energy development and positive community impacts.

Market Innovation: Recognizes organizations building and growing the voluntary market for renewable energy. This may include electricity suppliers and REC providers, policy advocates, leaders in project development, and others influential in driving green power markets and community benefits. The award honors leaders that are innovators and champions of renewable energy and whose actions are supporting the accelerated development of renewable energy markets.

Education and Awareness: Recognizes effective and unique programs, organizations, and individuals focusing on renewable energy education and raising the visibility, understanding, or awareness of its importance. This award honors work that educates others about the economic, environmental, and community benefits of renewable energy, and serves to boost public interest in market participation.

Leader of the Year: Recognizes outstanding leadership by an individual leveraging their influence, authority, position, or purchasing power to increase the availability of renewable energy. Evaluation criteria include personal efforts and achievements of an individual as an advocate in building the renewable energy market, and dedication to and vision for renewable energy.

Applicant Eligibility: To be eligible for a GPLA, an applicant (or individual/organization nominated for an award by a third party) must:

  1. Address activities in North America primarily (activities outside North America may be eligible too).
  2. Be active purchases, uses, or activities. For procurement related nominations, a renewable energy purchase is considered active when the start of contracted delivery is executed or commercial operation has commenced. The renewable energy use is considered active when the purchase or use start date is no later than the end of the application period.
  3. Impactful Procurement Award: Procure primarily renewable energy for their operations, facilities, and value chain.
  4. Be for activities not recognized by previous GPLA awards. CRS will evaluate applicants on the incremental renewable energy activities they have undertaken since their last GPLA award.
  5. Be for procurements/activities occurring January 1, 2025 onward (except for Leader of the Year, which can consider a longer period of activity).
  6. Applicants must provide enough details in their application to verify eligibility.
